I’m wondering if Anna’s family even knows she’s married. I can very much see Anna as the type of person who would get married and then say they’ll take a trip to meet her family afterwards. Especially during this time period, I can’t see her family being okay with it if she was to send them a letter and say she was involved with/engaged to a married man. Then Bates got arrested so quickly after they were married, I’m not entirely sure Anna would write to her family to tell them she was married to an accused murderer either.
